Montessori-to-go

Montessori-to-go is an idea of two Montessori-pedagogues from Germany who are experienced and passionate Montessorians and love to travel and work in countries all over the world. We developed a plan how you can easily convert your school or your nursery into a Montessori-based place  without spending a lot of money. We have experience in different countries like South-Africa, Kasachstan, Nepal....., where we established the thoughts of Maria Montessori in kindergartens and schools. We don't give you an accredited Montessori training, but we want the children to get independent and be proud of themselves and of what they have accomplished. It is our aim that you learn about the Montessori theory of education and for the children to get to know independent learning with the help of the Montessori-material.

Before we came:

After we've been there:

What's so special about Montessori-to-go?

In our focus are nurseries and primary schools that don't have much money and whose teachers are interested in a different way to teach. We have a lot of the Montessori material in copied and laminated form, so that everyone can print it out and laminate it himself. Of course this is not like having the real Montessori material, but it is a beginning and as you grow and have more money you can purchase some of the materials. Also we give you many ideas how you can produce a lot of material yourself. We show you a lot of possibilities in mathematics, language and cultural education.

We believe the children learn more and in a better way if there is no frontal instruction. We don't approve of teacher-centered teaching but believe that the child itself is the most important teacher and we as adults have to give the children the environment to learn whatever they want to learn. And they do and their independence and self-confidence will grow as they do

"I come from the old school regarding education. A good solid conservative education as it had been done for years. As I got older I heard of people sending their children to schools with alternative methods of educating a child. My feeling at the time was get real send your child to a good government or private school non of this alternative stuff, this includes Montessori
At Edu-Care Mpame we where fortunate to have Nikola Geiger from the German organization SES come to assist with the training and give advice to everyone at Educare. Nikola is a disciple of The Montessori method of teaching. Jean-Marie Robertson was so impressed with the Montessori method of teaching and was determined to introduce it in to the daily classes at Educare 2 crèches.
Jean-Marie was away for a few days and filling in for her I was amazed how the children have taken to Montessori.
Before the Montessori period started the class was quite noisy as could be expected from 25 little children. Once the Montessori period started, I could not believe the transformation from noisy rowdy kids to kids working quietly and concentrating on the task they are doing. The children will go and get the task they want to work on, be it a puzzle or something with building blocks or any of the assortment of tasks that are available. They sit down quietly and become totally engrossed with what they are doing. When they finish one task they will pack it away and get another all the teacher does is hover about giving advice where a child is struggling with a task. I am totally sold.
Nikola has visited us twice and wants to come for three months next year. The idea is to further the little interaction with the local school.
Thanks so much Nikola"
